Hi, i have a silver 1982 GL 1100 Aspencade that is running great thanks to this forums guides and videos. I want to replace the seat cover and side pockets. The closest thing i found is the silver gumtwo cover on ebay. Has anyone installed this seat cover? if so how do you like it? I'm open to any recommendations. My seat is not ripped just stained and faded. Thanks

Re: gumtwo32 silver seat cover?
I put a gumtwo replacement cover on my 1500 seat.
It came out ok for a first attempt.
After sitting in the sun and some riding, it now looks smoother than this photo on the day I installed it. My foam was mostly good, but not perfect. Compared to the used up original seat cover it's a big improvement.
Since the stock cover staples were all rusty, I used stainless staples in an air stapler to install it, and large zipties to feed the elastic straps through the holes in the foam to make it conform to the seat shape. My one complaint is that there was no way to insert the foam in the flap that goes between the seat and the back as that was all sewn up on the new one. I didn't want to open a seam to do that. Other than that, I find the quality of the cover pretty good. I did the seat maybe 3 months ago, but I did the backrest a year or two before and it still looks great.

Not that I have noticed. The seams don't look to be sealed, but Honda had a plastic sheet between the cover and the foam, and since mine was torn up, I replaced it when I did the cover. I have found water pooled on the seat after a rain, but after wiping it off I stay dry when sitting on it, so it must be pretty water tight. I know some original Honda seats came with a rain cover tucked in a secret pocket. But I have never used one or even seen one in person.
There is another topic here about Honda seat prices. After I bought the cover, I learned I could have bought a whole new Honda seat for under $300. But now that seat is over $1200.
So, I'm happy with how it came out and I really like the two-tone upholstery.

Looks nice. Did you do it yourself or had it done?

Re: gumtwo32 silver seat cover?
had it done. After a light summer rain I would say avoid this seat cover. I have buyers remorse and I paid to have it installed so I know its not returnable. Is not waterproof at all. Has a layer of foam sewn in and it just soaks water. Even if your seat is wrapped in plastic it doesn't matter. this cover is horrible for $200 and I've had $40 cb seat covers from China that were a lot better quality. Avoid

Very strange. Mine also has a thin layer of foam for the sewing, but it is open cell foam and doesn't really hold any water. It rained like crazy last night and I rode today with no problem. I wonder if the seat was not put back like Honda had it?
