82 Gl1100 oil leak from oil sight glass
Seems like I’m actually losing a decent amount of oil that’s leaking out of my oil site glass and I’m wondering if there’s anyway to fix this other than just JB welding the whole thing shut. I’ve looked everywhere and I haven’t seen a decent answer to this question or any sort of how to on replacing whatever O-ring or gasket is surrounding that oil site glass.

I've seen people J-B weld a dime in there to seal it. But you can push out the one in there and replace it with this aftermarket replacement. No epoxy needed, it's press-fit.

Isn't that sight glass you provided the link to for the handlebar master cylinders? I'm not sure but the original poster may be talking about the oil sight glass on the engine crankcase.

Re: 82 Gl1100 oil leak from oil sight glass
The oil sight glass is pressed in and sealed from the inside of the block. I've only ever heard of replacing it by splitting the block, so a JB weld or similar fix is probably the most prudent...

I'm amazed that the aftermarket ones are still around. Get it while you can from Sweden.Hankgl1100 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 4:40 pm Dang… well thanks. Hopefully I can at least get a dip stick for this
