are you talking about the turn signal bulbs? if you are, those are standard 1157 double filament bulbs that you can get in any auto parts store.

Wire diagram says 12V 4 Watt. Which you can get most likely at a parts store.

I`m talking about the two clear lenses right next to the headlamp, they are clear lenses
and they do not flash, turns on front are 1157 the orange side marker are 194 the turns on the
rear are 1156 the brake / running lights on rear are 1157. the two right next to the headlamp are the
critters in question, I can`t make out the stamping on the bulb, either one, and they are not mentioned in
either service manual that I own, and I have the one for the 1200 and the one for the sei, my owners manual
doesn't mention this bulb either. still at a loss, any ideas anyone?

The wire diagrams I have say they are all 5 watt bulbs for that location next to the head light. So go to somewhere like O'reilly auto parts which has about 50 different bulbs. Or use the internet. Look at your bulb brass, the little pins on the side will be staggered or across from each other. The bottom contact will be either one or two. Most likely one cause they dont turn or flash.
And get a 5 WATT BULB that looks like yours. It will say on the package what the watts are. Then you will have the bulb # for next time. The whole key to any bulb is the wattage. Like the head light 55 watt..100 watt.....or.
So there ya go

undo the top bolts of the rear vision mirrors, loosen the bottom bolt so the mirrors can be swung out of the way,(be careful they dont fall off)

insert a screwdriver under the centre of the chrome surround and push upwards to release.

remove the headlight surround

remove the the bolts holding the headlight and position light combo, pull the combo out, it wont come all the way, because of wires, and cable.

remove the position light rubber holders they can just be removed with a bit of a pull and wriggle.

remove the bulbs and replace, (do both)

getting the position light connectors, back in, can cause a few swear words, but a very very small amount of grease can make it easier

I'm sorry I'm not sure about changing the colour, which is normally white of course, if you do, make it sure the colour complies with the road rules.

In my very humble opinion, with the normal or led white bulb installed, plus the headlight, they create a spread of white light which is good for being seen.

I have been in the process of replacing all bulbs with LEDs
The position light bulbs in LEDs I could not find, but I did find a replacement
Bulb socket that fits where the original ones do that uses a 194 type bulb
And used them in place of the originals, they are a little brighter but that are
done. I used load simulators wired to the turn signals and they work great.
Only bulbs not LEDs are in the dash and the headlamp, haven't decided just which
way to go on the headlamp yet. Thanks for all the help with the bulb#.

I know it is an old question about bulbs, have not seen a reply to the position light bulbs other than OEM part number ( 1984 Honda GL1200I A HEADLIGHT parts catalog - 16
BULB, POSITION (12V 4W) (STANLEY) ) 34903-388-611 ..
does anyone know what the bulb number would be if I stopped down to the local auto parts and pick up a bulb?

I replaced them with a very bright LED replacement, but the answer to the original question is: Ba9s, 1895, T3-1/4... These are the base types. As for the incandescent type bulbs, 4W. For the LED, feel free to get what has the base; however, be sure it isn't too long, you only have about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches of room from the base to the end of bulb. Had replaced them with some dim LEDs, wasn't happy with them. Decided to put some brighter ones in, think they were 10w (in LEDs, the wattage isn't the same as for incandescents, more of a light level approximation), I'm happy with the look. The more lights the better to be seen.

thanks for the fast replies - found a Ba9s base type that works, same part# as the license plate light when looking up the 1984 Goldwing gl1200 lights ( dim, but for now it will do ) might change over to LED as my budget allows..
I do not know when the bulbs burnt out ( probably in 1988 ), in last stages of putting the bike back together and was checking wires and lights to make sure everything is working.. the high beam part of the headlight was out and the 2 bulbs ( all replaced and working correctly now ) ..
