Front brake master cylinder glass leaking

Post by wheeljam »

I just rebuild my front forks this weekend and put progressive springs in. I love em!!!! The forks had leaked and ruined the brake pads. So replaced em, hand to bleed the brakes. Next day while inspecting the bike I noticed that the fluid level window is leaking brake fluid. Anyway to fix this or do I need to replace the whole unit??

If you could get it clean and put a coat of clear epoxy on the inside, that may work??? Maybe you could drill out the window. run an NPT tap in there then plug it. You don't really need the window.

You can get the pop in windows in glass or plastic either one ..... come with the seal when needed .... on Ebay. Pop old one out, clean, pop new one in. Not expensive at all.

Seach "--> Goldwing Sight Glass Lense <--".

Thanks for the info. It quit leaking for some reason, but I think I might still replace it. Yellowed and cracked.

Some people just pop the old one out, the J-B weld a dime in its place. Doesn't function as a sight glass anymore, but it doesn't leak.
