Can I put 1984 GL1200I carbs on my 1987 GL1200A California model?

I'm not able to tell if the Cali hosing goes beyond the carb assembly. If all contained in the assy then I'd think it could be swapped. There should be a hose routing label on both bikes, use that to see if the hosing is outside of the assembly. Or remove the '87 assembly, taking note of where the hoses are going, and do the same with '84.

I do know that none of the part numbers are the same between the carbs of the different years and Cali models, they all have different carb part numbers in their assemblies.

Good luck

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to just stick with the 87 Carbs for now! Winter is coming soon to Wisconsin and I'll time to do good cleaning and rebuild!
