That GPS mount looks solid - keep in mind you want it solid enough to hold the GPS securely without vibrating, but you want it to be able to give if need be. I will typically either mount it to plastic that will "give" if need be, or I'll make the mounting arm out of aluminum stock that is stiff, but will bend under impact. The idea is, if you hit something and go flying over the handlebars, as you hit your GPS mount, it bends or breaks off instead of ripping an uncomfortable new hole in you somewhere there shouldn't be.
