1200 fuel pump

Post by crackercap »

I need to replace the fuel pump on a 1986 Interstate 1200. the OEM is too expensive and would like to know if anyone has had good experience with the ones on ebay for $15-$20. I also have heard that you can use one for a 85 Prelude for about $60. Many thanks

If you look in the How-To-Articles there is one on how to make it quieter but also how to replace it with one from autozone. I also think if you do a search on this site you should find a couple of posts on how to do it and how it will look.-------------Hal

I used one of those $15---25 fuel pumps. Worked fine all summer long. Mine was (is) black no chrome. But guess what? I really dont give a rats a-s. Some people on here really care about their chrome fuel pump. But who is going to care when you're going 80 mph down the freeway. Buy one, if you dont like it, throw it away and get something else. Just my .02 :o

at this point I concur, chrome not an issue. with the low cost of the one on ebay, I will try it and see how it does.

Couple of years ago I replaced mine with one for a Prelude. It works great and I've had no problems -- neither with the install or with its operation.

This is what I wanted to hear, ordered mine off Rockauto.com last night, $44 with shipping. The bike left me stranded on the side of the road last night, I pushed it about a half mile to moms house to leave it for the night.

And I agree who cares what color it is as long as it works...but mine isn't a full restoration either.
