brake lights

Post by new goldwing owner »

I am very new to the goldwing, I think I have a problem, is the front brake lever not control the brake lights? And also, I have only a flashing brake light when I hit the back brake itis about eye level up to a car behind I guess but my question is, is brake lights suppose to be lower also? I have tail lights lower

Yes it should control the brake lights !!
Although wiring and slide on connectors may be the problem, the most likely source of the problem in the hand brake micro switch .

Its hard to remove ( Its dark and the screw is on the bottom)
Its hard to open ... probably use a sharp jack knife on an almost invisible seam ...
and tiny parts spring out if you don't open it carefully ! ! !

( Don't ask me how I know !! )

I'd recommend you open it on a large white towel, on your living room floor.. that way you can see what's jumping around.

Once open, its easy to clean, and possibly gently scrape the contacts if they look corroded .
Usually its just full of "dirt" and grease. Rinse several times with a shot of brake cleaner .

Oh .. and its fiddly to re-assemble. .... and a pain to re-install ( its dark ... )

But aside from all that ... its easy to get it working again , in less than an hour ..

Have Fun !

these front brake switches are so cheap, your better off just buying a new one. take a look at this..........http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Front-Bra ... qV&vxp=mtr.

for the price, you can get 3 or 4 to have on hand as spares.

stuart.

no thanks. it would cost me more in frustration and getting angry at those little flying springs than it would to just order a new one or 2.

yes brake lights should show on the trunk, as well as lower down near the turn signals
