no electricity..

this is what happened!!!
the bike in question is a 85 gl1200ltd...the problem is ...bike started and ran for approx 1 minute..... ....dead!!! no lights... no horn,,,,, no start .. no dash light

battery is fully charged ...when shorting out on the solenoid the starter turns ,,all fuses are good...main 30 amp fuse intact

any one have a idea in what direction i should start looking??? HELP

I would first try jiggling the key to see if the key switch has gone bad.

If no luck there, start tracing the power. Measure power at the main fuse. If you have 12 volts there, move onward towards the key switch, see if you have 12 volts there. If yes, keep moving onward to the fuse block, and so on. At some point you'll find you don't have power, and then you can start narrowing down the exact point at which the power is being lost (i.e. where the wire or contact is broken).

THANKS .. WILL CHECK AS YOU SUGGESTED TO-MORROW MORNING ITS 20.30 HERE AND THE BIKE IS 20 KILOMETERS FROM HERE

wing-man saves the day...............were on our way again.............solenoid to switch red wire no continuity... spliced,,,, and new wire fitted :P we are back in the seat
