1200 carb question

Post by crackercap »

In rebuilding the carbs on a 86 Interstate, I inspected the slides and their diaphragm and noticed a "slit" in the diaphragm. Upon inspection of each subsequent carb, I found the same tear or slit in each diaphragm in the same spot. Is these slits or tears normal? as I was told to look for tears, etc. in the diaphragm. Thanks!!

Was there a seam there like where they were put together? I dont remember any on my carbs. But some aftermarkets may have had one.

No seam, just small tear or slit, almost identical spot on each carb.
