Fork Spring question

Post by sportsfreaked »

So on my 1985 Limited I am doing a bunch of stuff and am going to do my forks while they are out. My question is upon disassembly of the forks one fork has only one spring and the other fork has 2 springs with a spacer in between. Are they suppose to be like this? I am going to be putting in Race Tech High Performance 1.0KG S3234100. I am assuming just one spring in each fork when the new ones come in? Thanks for the knowledge. Ed

There are spring systems that have two springs, one spring, springs with and without spacers...but both forks should be the same. I wonder if one of the forks was damaged at one point and was replaced, and they just kept whatever spring was inside it?

Thanks guys. I thought that they y should both be the same. I guess it doesn't matter since I'm replacing the springs anyway. Just wanted to know more for knowledge. Thanks again.

Well now I know why they had 2 different spring types. The bottom bolt for the drain and to remove the fork tube was all ******** up. It isn't salvageable at this point so I just got a new left fork of Ebay I ordered the new springs and will rebuild them. I'm also going to polish the forks as well. I'm hoping that goes well. Every project on this thing sucks money out of my bank account  .
