1985 Sei ECU failure

Post by nightair »

Hello. Wanted to say thanks to Virgil Mobil. My 1985
Special Anniversary Goldwing engine suddenly quit the other night. No ECU lights, no fuel pump, starter worked, relays good. As has been said before "Don't trust how the Dog Bone fuses Look". The 30 amp from the starter relay to the connector under the seat looked fine and showed continuity but when poked with a test probe it fell apart. Replaced it. Works fine.
My suggestion is to replace both dog bones with AGC fuse holders.

Great find.Good job done.
As a side note:If possible, when testing circuits,I recommend testing while trying to operate the circuit.
Often parts,eg.fuses, switches, relays, connectors and connections can "measure or test" OK with a meter and fail under load (current flow).
