84 GL1200A smdc connectors

Post by fargofour »

Hi,

When I bought my 1200, the fairing and associated parts were removed. On the right side near the front is a bracket which holds two of the SMDC connectors. The bracket is not connected and I can't for the life of me see where this fastens to. Does anyone know?

As a bonus, does anyone know what SMDC stands for? I can post a picture later today if needed.

thanks,

Bud.

I can't say off the top of my head what it stands for, but I know what you're talking about, and that is not an OEM connector. Honda uses Hitachi-style connectors, so that was added by a previous owner - you're going to have to follow the wires to figure out where it goes.

Ok my mistake. They are not SMDC connectors. The connectors are from the ignition switch and the right handlebar control.

Here's the photos. The bracket is just sitting on the fairing mount. As I said before, I can't figure out where this bracket mounts to.

Thanks.

Bud.

That's the one! Found a thread on removing the fairing and it showed it. I didn't see it because the fairing was removed when I got it

Also the smdc connectors are the three that plug into the fairing on the left side, FYI.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer

Bud
