I ran a comp. test , all cyl 150 psi. ck. plugs each one is sparkn. # 2 a little weak. I started it ,# 2 & # 3 still cold , let it warm up ,a few relays & the rect./reg. & main charging sys. wires is getting criticly hot. I rode it the other night it wasnt heating up.

I had an issue with my '85 LTD the other week after I did some work with the shelter off - no spark on the left bank. Went back in and duplicated what I had done and found that I had disturbed the air lines just forward of the air box. Lots of these on this fuel injected bike - check the small air hoses in this area. May have disturbed the connections in this area as well.

When I first bought my bike 18 months ago I had an issue with spark after I had changed the plugs. Had to screw the wire in more tightly to the plug cap. The connections inside the plug cap after this many years can be loose. You have mentioned disturbing these connections.

You don't mention whether the battery is new or old. Would recommend having it load tested whether it is new or old. Charging system wires heating up may indicate that the draw on the system is excessive. Another small mod I did on mine is replacing the black battery sense wire going to the regulator/rectifier. Before doing this you can test the existing 12 VDC sense wire for voltage to determine what voltage drop if any is on this wire.

A few more thoughts.

Good luck. Cheers
