Looking-1984 Panasonic Stereo

Post by 1979wing »

Just bought an 84 aspy, 50000 miles, safetied (Manitoba, CANADA), $1500. Anyone have a Panasonic radio/cassette, for an 84, they would part with?

Canadian seller of vintage GW parts is Straightwings out of Langley BC. No affiliation, but have done business with Andy (owner) and he has been good to me. Also in Canada (prices in USD - most of his business is south of the border).

... and StraightWings ( Just down the street from me !! ) does have TWO Panasonic GL1200 radios :
one in tip top shape for $186 ( $ Amer)
http://www.straightwings.com/store/84-t ... L1200.html

and one with a faulty LCD for $ 45.70 ( $ Amer)
http://www.straightwings.com/store/84-t ... L1200.html
He sold me one like #2 about 2 years ago for $35. I bought it as a stop-gap before a trip , for the communication features ... About 1/2 of the LCD is black . After 2 months, I noticed its very clear acoustically , deck works, , tunes distant and near AM /FM well.....

I also discovered that I drive the long miles, looking mostly at the road, and tune the radio by ear only thru my helmet, not by looking at the display ... so it suits me just fine to have a half dark LCD .

But if it still bugs you, Sierra electronics will tune it up for $125, and add a non-dark LCD for another $125 .

Better to buy #1 at $250 Canadian , if the dark display is gonna bother you ..
