CB Installation help needed GL 1200 Limited

Post by rcgreg »

Howdy folks, I want to add the CB unit to my 1985 Limited, the manual on this site is not for this model.
If there is anyone who has done this, or could peek inside their fairing and let me know what plugs into what
I would be most grateful.

thanks

Greg

Email sent. What items do you have for install? Pictures?

Cheers

I have everything ! Lots of duplicate stuff

On the bike as it is
Vol control unit in the shelter top
Junction box attached to the lower left fairing pocket
Power Amp
Radio Unit

To be installed
separate antenna - no splitter needed
CB unit and wiring harness
Terminal connector box

Looking at the stuff you sent, it seems that I will have an extra plug off the junction box that is presently used for one of the intercom/headset connections
That plug will be replaced by one of the ones on the to be installed Terminal connector box.
That was part of the confusion I was experiencing :-) Hooking up the connectors for the vol/tone controls in the shelter will be a challenge
Not much room in there for my big clumsy hands !
I do have an assistant - but she's not a lot of help

Oh, and I will have to replace the present junction box with one that mounts to the rear of the CB Unit, as the present one mounts to the fairing box and has different mounting arrangements.
