84 aspencade with missing speed sensor

Post by Krazywolf8169 »

I just purchased a 84 aspencade and the speed sensor is missing. I was curious if i were to purchase an interstate cluster and speedo cable would it be a plug and play swap? Thinking this may be a cheaper and better fix than trying to find a speed sensor.

You can actually build a replacement sensor from commonly-available parts. Several users here have done it. Have a read through these:

I have read some of the posts prior to joining goldwing docs. The repair post was one but as i said it is missing on my bike. Now the 97 valkyrie sensor is what is confusing me since i believe it attaches to the the transmission on those?

I think this is what you are talking about....and $125.00 is cheaper than an instrument cluster and the other work that would have to be done to switch from digital to analog...http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-Honda-GL12 ... nM&vxp=mtr

I saw the speed sensor you are talking about on Ebay there was also a brand new one for around 150 bucks. But i know these speed sensors are common issue and also the digital dash i haven't seen one yet that doesn't have a few lcd bar that aren't working. If its all plug and play i have no problem with doing the work and actually would prefer an anolog dash. Im not a fan of the digital tachometer at all
