Hi,I am going to attempt to rebuild my starter,luckily I had a spare one,but was curious about the rebuild kits they have on ebay,anyone here used them or are they not worth it. :D

I bought a kit a couple of months ago from DB Electrical directly. The online pictures of the kits all look alike, so maybe there aren't many manufacturers.
All I needed was the small bushing in the commutator end, but they included all the wear parts, so I used them. Very easy. Cleaned everything and re-greased it all; works great.

I used a kit from Ebay and had no problems. It makes a HUGE difference in the way it functions. good luck

I did mine early this year. Took it apart, cleaned, new set of brushes ($10.00 CDN). Put back together - works well.

If your starter is like mine there is a locating pin that can fall out. Here is a picture:

Just curious,what type of grease did you guys use,I know there is a how to video but I don't remember seeing what kind was used,is it bearing grease or what,thanks. :D

Just a quick question,I changed all the cables on the bike,ground,starter and positive as a precaution,would the shorting problem I was having with the audio system have anything to do with the starter failing,I have cleared up all electrical issues I could find,just asking. :D
