GL1200 pulse geneeators

Post by Hecliff »

All right. I've got a 1985 LTD. no pulse generator available. I got a number for a possible replacement from a 2005-2006 CBR600. The body is two wide to fit between the mounting posts. I've ordered and received pulse generators for the GL1500. The body is the same as the GL1200. But the mounting tabs are at a different angle. Has anybody adapted the six cylinder one to the1200?

Here are a couple of threads for you to peruse.

http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-g ... ition.html

The first thread from the fellow in Cobble Hill, BC, Canada did the mod on my '85 LTD. It is working well.

Here are some alternates to consider as well.

Alternate - 30300-MG9-681 (Dual Sensor)
2005-2006 CBR 600 30300-MBW-J21
30300-MN1-680
2006-2008 1800 Crankshaft Position Sensor 30300-MCA-003

The differences are mostly the mounting arrangement.

The 1500 sensor is installed on my bike in the upper position. The 1500 sensor has two sensors and I have read where the sensors are installed top and bottom, but only one being hooked up at any one time.

Good luck. Cheers

Just received new PG sensors for an '85 Aspy/Interstate. These fit in the exact position as the Ns Sensor, and the block is the same for all 1200s. I noticed that the mounting bolt holes are recessed for the sensors and that the air gap is what it should be when this sensor is installed. Going to install both sensors, top and bottom, but only use one. The second will be installed and adjusted for the air gap and if the first one malfunctions, I'll just have to change the connector without taking the front off the bike (again).

Cheers

Any update on your issue? Reread your post. When you mentioned PG, did you mean the Ns sensor or the Gr/Gl sensor on the right rear cylinder head?

Cheers

The sensors at the rear of the right hand head are cam sensors. I replaced the right sensor. Everything points to the ignition control module that is not available and if it was is worth more than the bike. Therefore, the bike is for sale for parts. Any offer over $1000 takes it.

Thanks for all your help.
