1200 GL clutch push rod inner oil seal replacement
Hello: I have an '85 1200 GL Interstate that requires the inner clutch push rod oil seal be replaced due to oil seepage into the clutch slave area, and then onto the pavement (into a coffee can under the bike). No clutch problems and I'm certain it's motor oil. Is it possible to remove and replace this seal -91204-MBO-013- without removing the clutch housing which of course requires the engine be removed? I have heard something about grinding away a "lip" and then pulling out the seal, but I don't know if this works for a 1200 GL also. Has anyone actually done this? If so, I'd appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. Thanks, James

Re: 1200 GL clutch push rod inner oil seal replacement
OK, I was able to get my answer the hard way. The seal is located in the clutch cover which can be removed with the engine situ. I have come to believe that 1/2 of the Honda owners that I spoke with had no idea what I was even talking about, and the other 1/2 wanted to sound as if they did. No offense to anyone here. "Grinding the lip" thing was about 750's I think. The parts download from this site helped alot. My previous Honda was a Sport 90 @1966. Anyway, I took the clutch cover off in about 20 greasy minutes. Seems as if the PO managed to lose one of the dowel pin locators so I will scratch one of those up. I'll power wash it all off when done. Thanks for the views.

Hello again: I took a chance and went to the local dealership. My lucky day. I got 2 - clutch cover seals, 1 - dowel pin, and 1 - clutch cover gasket for $16.67 USD. All OEM. Some parts are still out there. Best wishes. James
