Frame Question 1200 GL I

Post by jameselindorff »

Hello: Does anyone know? Where the subframe attaches to the front lower left frame there are 2 threaded extensions for securing the sub frame clamp. Is the upper one a stud threaded into the cross piece or is it factory welded in? Common sense makes it a stud but I don't want to try to extract it and install a new one if I can't get it out. Any help? Thanks , James

Hi. Those two studs are welded to the main frame.

Thanks for your reply. I need to find a way to repair the top one. Might have to make the thread size smaller. Thanks, James

I wouldn't go too much smaller, but threading that stud for the equivalent SAE sized nut may be small enough to give a good thread and not affect the integrity of the mount.
