Hi,I just posted on the diy starter rebuild about this but thought I would post here also,getting ready to rebuild my starter and found this, have a rebuild kit for it but the new brush plate has two screws for the brushes and on my starter the insulated wire is soldered to the armature housing,how can I get around this,thanks. :D

Put the new springs on your old plate, that way you can unscrew the old brushes and screw on the new ones, also, don't use the cheap brushes most guys sell in the rebuild kit, they won't last but a couple months....if you're lucky. Buy Honda brushes.

Hi,thanks for getting back to me,the thing is that the insulated brush on the starter housing is soldered to the housing not screwed onto the plate,the other brush is screwed on the plate.
