I would take the whole compressor out and put it on your work bench. So you can see what your doing. Have a battery close by to hook up too.

You have to first isolate the problem. Is there power getting to the compressor? If not, start checking the likely culprits: fuses, connectors.
If there is power getting to the compressor but it is not running, it might need a rebuild, or brushes, or could have corrosion, broken wire, or a number of things.
