Stator, Cultch and regulator replacement
Just recently replaced my stator in a 84 goldwing standard. There is a great video on youtube which describes step by step how to remove the engine. Also, there is a video on how to remove the rear engine cover and replace the stator. I also replaced my clutch while the engine was out. The bike had 54,000 miles on it. the replacement stator was a Ricks Electric, which cost 148.00 on ebay. The bike has around 3,000 miles on it since and the electrical system works as it should. I also replaced the regulator/reci, which was another 117.00

My son is going to enjoy it for many years to come.
Re: Stator, Cultch and regulator replacement
it is great to see someone go about properly replacing only the parts that are bad, and back to OEM spec.
so many of these great bikes are scarred from unnecessary mods to the charging system.

Yes, it is a GREAT Bike ! .. and so fun to do the BIG miles in ( My best was Alaska !! )
... and I feel the same way about keeping stator , etc as original as possible !! ( I also have classic plates)
but .. it will never be easy stuff from now on , 'cept for oil changes . You will find all sorts of fiddly things, like a broken rear brake micro switch , or a loose , or stripped fork clamp..
On top of that , about the only things you can still get from Honda are brake pads, spark plugs, oil and tires . EVERYTHING else will require a detailed search of e-bay or a good Wing wrecker...
but we are all here to help you find most stuff...

Re: Stator, Cultch and regulator replacement
thanks Sillver dave. Yes I found out that honda does not make alot of 1200 parts anymore. But there are alot of good alternatives, such as radiator hoses(gates makes a hose that when cut in half will fit the top and bottom of the radiator), also the timing belt tensioners, 7volt regulators and etc.

You might try partzilla.com. They have some parts that you might not find at some other places.
