steel brake lines

Post by Phunnybone »

Okay, so I got the HEL lines for my LTD. However, after disconnecting the rear line from the hard line coming from the rear master cylinder, it looks like the old flare nut is shot - so I want to replace the hard line. The question is, what is the diameter of the hard line - 1/4 or 3/16? I can buy either one and rent the flare tool from Auto Zone, just don't want to get one that's too small.

Typically all steel lines for brake application are 3/16 inch outside diameter (4.76mm), this applies to most motorcycles and cars/trucks.
