GL1200 seat

Post by dparkeralice »

I've never owned a Goldwing before, and am surprised that the GL1200 Interstate I just bought seems like it was sized for very small people. I am 6'3", and when sitting on the bike I feel like my leags are curled up under me as if I were kneeling, and the bars are very close to me.

Yes I have looked at the seat adjustment and it is set as far back as the 3 position mounting bracket will allow. Yes it is a stock seat.

I'd really like to be sitting a few inches farther back, and maybe even a couple of inches higher.

Are there aftermarket seats available that will accomplish this?

You can get a seat rebuilt to pretty much any spec you want - to get it perfect, that's probably what you will want to do, rather than try to find an aftermarket seat that might or might not fit what you're looking for.

I'm only six feet tall and when I had a 1200 wing I wanted another inch and a half on the seating area which mint sending the seat out to have rebuilt to my spec's. even if you buy an after market seat you will have to have the company you buy from customize it for you

Hello,

I am a little smaller than you at 6'1" and had similar fitting issues. Here is the link to my post on how I solved it: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=37876
The short version is I bought an old seat, cut and glued the foam, and had a new cover made.
