Mounting 12V Outlet & Voltmeter

Post by BeeSharp »

Looking for some help to me decide where to mount a voltmeter & 12v power outlet.

On my 86 Interstate I have blank panels on the left and right and am curious if others can offer some ergonomic advice for where to mount them. I want the 12v outlet for an older GPS that may be recycled for occasional MC duty. Initially I was going to put both on the right side in the pop out panel, but I think the GPS will feel more natural on the left side of the handle bars. As I was pulling wires I noticed either side is a pretty easy mount.

The unit I have looks like a dual, but I doubt I will use the provided faceplate. The voltmeter and 12v outlet can be mounted separately. Even if they get mounted side-by-side; without the face plate I can squeeze them a little closer to fit the panel.

Thanks
Jim
