Turn Down Exhaust Tips

Post by BadMonk »

I'm looking for turn downs to put on my '87 Interstate. There are several available for the '84s but nothing for the later 1200s. The 84-85 muffler PN is different than the 86-87 PN. Is there really a difference to the tips so that the '84 tips wouldn't fit the '87?

If I remember, it has to do with the flat wider mouth opening on some models.

Thanks for the reply. I did more research since posting and found that same info. The '84 is round whereas the '87 is oval.

Badmonk,

I own a 82 gl1100 and picked up a like new /prestine beautiful red color 86 interstate last week only 31k miles and always garaged.

I like the simple look and was removing all the extra chrome parts today.

I just uninstalled a set of the chrome turn down muffler tips from my 1986 interstate 1200 with the oval tips. They just screw on to the stock muffler tip.

They are in great condition and I took pictures so let me if you want to buy them.

I will ask be removing the chrome trailer hitch once I figure out which parts/arms/brackets/bolts support the hitch to the saddlebags supports.

Thanks and message me if you are interested.
