Unbolting and bolting back mostly. The big difference is the PGs are on the back of the 84 engine but the harness should reach to plug into the ignition module, if not you will have to extend the wires.

Is it an 84 Aspencade motor? If it isn't, you won't have all of the gear indications unless you switch the gear position switch over.

Make sure that the 84 comes with starter motor. Yours won't fit and 84 starters are almost impossible to find. The 84 was a one-year engine and there are other parts that don't interchange too.
