1984 starter

Will someone tell me what the difference is about a 1984 gl1200 Starter to all the others 85-87 PLEASE........The part numbers different, but they look the same. I have tried to find a starter (how to rebuild) video but have been unsuccessful. If there is one for the GL1200's Please point me to the link...???? Thanks, Kevin

Hi Jolly I had an 84 aspy the thing about the 84s is the starters were only made in 84 and there is no other starter that I know of that will fit. The rebuild for the starter should be pretty much like other starters. I have a 84 parts bike that im keeping for spare parts for my 85 as a lot of them are the same parts. sorry I could not help more.-------------------Hal

!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the info. I have two 86's. Have a friend that needs a starter repair on his 84. Thought it was weird the part numbers were different. I guess I will find out for sure when I get his out. I hope to learn something. Maybe answer my own question. I will let you know. Thanks, Kevin Jolly

When I say rebuild video, I mean one that shows the bearings and all being replaced.
