Yet another question about starter and steering head.

Hi,I have had my 86 Goldwing for nearly two years now and have had two starters on it,they work fine for a few months then goof up either quit working totally or just not good,right now the one on it does this,every couple of weeks when I hit the start button it won't even turn,I leave it alone for a while then it starts the bike right up,have checked for faulty ground and everything seems okay,so maybe one of you might have an idea of what else to look for,now about the steering head,what I need to know is what type socket goes on the top triple tree nut and what type goes on the two larger nuts under the same triple tree,thanks.
