Large plugin to the fairing
Hi,in doing my steering head bearings I have been checking a few electrical issues out,the plug I am concerned with goes to the harness block on the fairing,it is the largest of the three that plug there, two have cleaned up very well but the large one is still kinda yucky,so here is a photo, just want to see if some of you guys can tell me if these can be cleaned up or if they need replacing can they be taken out of the plastic.

That appears like things may have been getting a little hot in there (I can't tell for sure from just that picture). If so, there is no amount of cleaning that will make it look new again. The pins can be removed from the block. They have a little barb that needs to be depressed and the wire and pin can be removed, but if that has been melted, removing them will be that much more difficult.

I had the same on mine. The pins corroded, overheated and became intermittent.
Lost all the spring and just collapsed.I had to bypass all the bad ones.A real pain to get to.Ended up removing the faring to do it right.

Hi,I have the fairing off so getting to everything is easy to get at but I am curious about something,my bike is an 86 model but I have an 84 parts bike and was wondering if there is any difference in the harness on that bike because it is in great shape with no corrosion.

Yeah,I was thinking the same thing but what I thought about doing since my last post was to maybe cut the plug I need off the parts bike and hook it up wire to wire on my bike and have a good connection,I also was wondering if any of you know what tool to use to get the metal connectors out if I want to try and clean up the nasty ones.

Hi again, was wondering about this,I am thinking about changing out the wiring harness plastic part from my 84 parts bike because it is in better condition, just going to match it wire for wire, later on I can pick up another harness for my parts bike cause I am thinking about getting running also, but wondered if any of you might have a wiring harness that you would part with, thanks.

May be easier to replace connector/terminals with new?
