New coils aren't the same

Post by Kt2448 »

Hi everyone. I recently purchased new coils for my 84 1200a. The new coil is the same on the outside, but where the wire connects to the coil is threaded, so I can't just slide it in like you do with the stock coil. The wires that came with the new coils didn't have caps on them and the stock caps screw into the stock wires. Will i be able to screw the stock caps into the new wires or do I need to add my own new caps? Is there something i can do to modify the new coils so i can slide the stock wires in? Any and all knowledge is always appreciated. Thanks!

You're old coils weren't threaded? Wonder what they came off of? Yes you can thread your caps onto the wires.

They came off a 1984 goldwing. They are original.

If the spark plug wires do not thread onto the coils, the coils are not original... someone swapped them out in the past.
