stator and pulse generator question

Post by walker70 »

Hi,I need to ask this, just got started pulling the spare motor off my 84 goldwing parts bike and noticed that the motor looks more like my 86 goldwings' motor,as in both pulse generators are at the front around the belts instead of one being on the back of the motor as it says in the manual, could be maybe whoever owned may have swapped it out,I am also thinking about seeing if the stator on it may be in good condition cause I may be needing to change the one on my regular ride but I may be better off by buying a new one.

Yes, that is an 85-87 engine. Risky to try the untested stator, no way to know if it's good. Ohm tests are not a good indicator, that's why I always just skip that and go to the running AC voltage test.

Hi,yeah I agree about the stator,I think what I will do is go ahead and get a new one for my 86 Wing and then later on get one to go in the 84.
