Blowing ignition 10A fuse HELP!

Post by BroChester »

The 10A ignition fuse located in the fuse box blows after a starting attempt. Replaced with 15 and ran for a few seconds till fuse blew. Any ideas on how to trace problem or has someone had similar incident. Can't seem to locate any burned or frayed wires. Any usual culprits? Suggestions? Help! Thouse about putting 20 in so it would burn wire and i could find it, but really stupid to go to that extreme when you guys are out there! :)

Disconnect the voltage regulator and see if that does it.

Thanks, DaveO430 Connecter to rectifier was burned. Can you give me advice on how to check rectifier to see if good? I have digital ohm meter and know how to use it. Connector beyond repair and before I make all new connections, I want to make sure the rectifier is good. Again, Thanks for any help.

Consult your service manual or google how to test a motorcycle reg/rec. Sometimes the results you get will be backward because meters differ in their polarity. An analog meter works best for this.
