Output shaft question

Hi,just curious about this,got the motor out of the spare wing yesterday and when I popped the stator cover off the output shaft came with it,what I would like to know is if the gear that the shaft connects to is supposed to be locked in place when I stick it all back together,in the manual it says that before you pull the shaft out there is a retaining bolt but I don't see one?,of course these are the photos but still I did not see anything,it scared me when the shaft came out because the gear sounded like it fell into the motor,hopefully no spacers were on it.

No problem, just stab the shaft back into the gear and the bearing behind it.

Hi,thanks for that,I also got the same advice from my favorite cycle shop in Dothan Al,the head mechanic there had all sorts of great advice on a few others things that were rolling around in my brain about my bike,thanks again.
