I have always felt from day one, that pulling a vehicle with a driveshaft intact is pure idiocy....

I have always dropped the driveshaft off of cars/trucks that I towed. Just pure common sense.
What is 15 minutes versus $1ks of bux to repair a transmission?

IMO, trying to pull that 1200 with the rear wheel on the ground is going to destroy the transmission.

YMMV but you won't ever catch me trying that.

OTH, my sister just bought a Suburu Forrester to pull behind her motorcoach, because it is found to survive many thousands of miles with the manual tranny in neutral.... her husband is suffering severe back degeneration and no longer can hook up the big car trailer for her. He isn't even strong enough to push the brake pedal on the motorcoach, and won't drive anything other than his car anymore.

I will agree it is better to trailer it than tow it with the rear wheel on the ground, probably not a good plan for anything if it can be avoided. My argument was with WingAdmin's statement that the oil pump pumps oil to the transmission, it doesn't, at least not directly.
