Key switch worn out?

I've either worn out my key switch trying to fix my 85 GL1200 or something else is wrong. I tried to get an after market key switch and couldn't find one with an exact connection and the 1 that did was $175. so I didn't consider it as a good buy. I just hooked up the wires to a cheap switch and still didn't get a response so my Honda’s dead.
