Clutch fade problems

Hi
new to forum and to goldwings..... gone from "dissin' them" to "lovin' them" I guess you got to ride one to like one.

I have stated with a 1989 (i guess a 97 model) 1200 aspencade
Fixed a few problems (major and minor) and polished some life back in her.

Runs well but I get an almost complete clutch fade after riding 30 plus miles, might be heat related. Although does not seem to happen on any specific point on the dash temp gauge.
But clutch just drops right off to a point where all the lever travel is used and it won't engage, no pressure, eg cant change gear or very difficult to do and won't find neutral. If I leave the bike for 20 mins it gets a little better. when completely cold seems OK.

I have done all clutch 101 things replaced fluids, flushed system, and replaced again...no solution

MC or Slave or old clutch lines ? Could the problem lie deeper......


Anyone come across similar problems....any insight welcomed

HI, I had exactly same problem. Just check clutch reservoir for rust, on my situation small return hole was clogged and when engine heat up clutch engage by self. Brake fluid expand in higher temp. and make pressure on clutch slave cylinder because cannot back to reservoir.

I think my problem, yet to be diagnosed if a bit different in that I "lose" the clutch
but have and will again check your recommendations

The best way to fix it is just rebuild MC. its easy job just replace piston with orings and check return hole. Return hole is covered by tiny metal sheet.
