Clutch sight glass

I just purchased a GL1500SE my clutch sight glass level is below lower line, I removed top of reservoir and added only about 1oz. Dot 4 but level didn't change on sight glass. Also some Dot4 spilled onto front panel around CB radio and next morning panel was cracked in several places. Anyone have any answers for me ?

Brake fluid is hard on some plastics and it's impossible that an ounce added to res didn't raise the level some, and kits on Ebay for new clear sight glasses with seal.
