Greetings all!
New member saying hello and soliciting your expertise. I just got an 84 Aspencade with 27k miles. The bike has been stored, and I am in the process of maintenance to get it up and running again
Questions: I know the Honda carb rebuild kits are outrageously expensive. Has anyone found a quality rebuild kit that won’t break the bank and still perform as OEM so I won’t need to do another rebuild due to inferior parts or workmanship? Is it really necessary to remove the vacuum diaphragms and needles on top of the carbs? Is there anything to clean here?
Also changing the timing belts before firing it up. Has anyone seen a “how to” to change the cam seals?
Thanks so much for your help.

Re: Carb rebuil kits
Really all you need for a 1200, unless it needs diaphragms, is 4 OE kits, not expensive https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda ... comp-parts
or a kit from Randakks , which is pricey but good https://www.randakks.com/randakks-own-g ... l-kit.html
Why would you not remove the diaphragms, you can't do a good job if you don't, there are passages under them to be cleaned.

Re: Carb rebuild kits
Thanks for the information. The last carb I rebuilt was for a Honda xl 125, and it did not have an upper diaphragm. Some you tube rebuild videos allude that their bike “never runs the same”after removing and replacing the needle and diaphragm, but they may not have followed SOP. That’s why I joined a community of dedicated owners who have actually have a bike similar to mine. Appreciate your help!
