Bike turns over but won't start

Post by ommari »

Greetings wingers,
It's been awhile since my last post.
Let me give a small history of what was done before i ran into this problem.
I stated over heating again , i did a compression check which proved to be a bad head gasket..i took the bike apart . ordered parts.. Replaced old parts with new..redone compression check all was good note " i did not replace false tank "
But tried to start the bike... It turned over but would not start.. Is it because i didnt replace the false take or am i having a fuel problem now out of no where ? Usually, at every startup i can hear the pump kick in.. This time i didn't hear it ?
Any and all help would be deeply appriecated
Oh ! 86 gl1200 sei aspencade
Thanks.

Hi Ommari,

Did you checked all the connections from and to the fuse box? Also check the the fuse #9 and the relay #5.

Good luck,
Jens

Update:
Thanks for replying jens.
Late last night i began putting the bike bback together since replacing the head gasket etc. For the hell of it i turn on the ignition... Than the run switch.... I heard the pump kick in so i hit the starter...
Bam ! She fired right up ? This morning
She fired up..shut it down 2 , 3 times and figured it was a fluke.. Went and got gas a drove her about 5 miles.... Stop at store
Started her up got a few blocks and she shut down as if she had ran out of gas.
Would not start up again. No pump sound. Towed it home and pulled the #5 fuse. Gently tapped it on all for sides.
Put it back and tried to start it again.
I did hear a ticking sound , sounded aas if it was coming from the right side of bike under the seat ? I will check the #9fuse now..
Ron
Ok i just checked both fuses and #9 "15amp" is good...also hearing rapped. Brief ticking same spot. Going to remove seat and try to pin point the location of the ticking sound.
