1984 gl1200 interstate dash

looking for the wire connection diagram or photo with notes to the dash and harness connection, I do not know if some were removed before I purchased the bike. main issue is the temp gage is not working and following the wrapped wires is a bit confusing. I know the wire goes from the sensor to the connector, need to know what pin that is to check oms and then to the dash to check for oms. fuel gage works great so it is not the 7volt rectifier ( from what I have read ). also I can count pins with the clip on the harness on top if no diagram is available, I should be able to trace it from the harness to the gage. any help in this would be great.

I would check the temp sending unit on the rad. first. It should have a one wire plug or two. If it has a 2 wire plug turn the key on not running and jump the plug from one side to the other......dose the temp gage peg out all the way? If it dose the gage is good. If it has a one wire plug just ground it and see if the gage pegs out all the way. If it dose not peg out then the gage could vdery well be the problem.

one wire plug, grounded the wire like suggested in other topics I have read, but the fuel gage works so it is not the 7 volt rectifier. step 1, read all I can to be able to do an adequate job ( check ). step 2, change out the thermos sensor ( check ). step 3, identify the pin that the single wire goes to see if there is a bad wire to that point ...….. stuck
there are some missing wires or they are suppose to not have a wire behind the dash, meaning to me probably not used for the Interstate but maybe the Aspencade. .
so before I do something reckless like open the dash I thought " there are people who may know what pin to test and if I had to run a new wire where to connect it ". the dash is off the bike and in a saddlebag, changing the small lights to LED while I am at it. everything is being gone over and repaired or replaced where needed, better to find the answer while it is winter than not be able to ride in the spring, I can have everything back to riding condition in an hour.( well maybe an hour and a half )
I know if I break something that was working it cost a lot more.
