Compatible parts...

Hi, are there parts that are compatible with a '86 GL1200 from other bikes? For example I think I read CB900 rear shocks are?

Sure there are, the Fuel Injected models even used some parts from Honda Automobiles in the injector system...

So I guess instead of a general answer to a general question, do you have any specific part in mind?

When it comes to the rear shocks, there is not a lot of choice. Tried a lesser shock on an '85 LTD and the bike is just too heavy, installed the shock, went to the strongest setting and bottomed the shock out without a problem.

There are lots of parts that are interchangeable. Coils - 1500 coils - others as long as they meet the OEM spec. Brake rotors - have the info somewhere, will check - 1000 rotors will fit on a 1200 but you have to take the rotor off the centre piece and install on the 1200 centre piece - need to do a rivet job.

Sensors can be interchanged with others. The PG sensors can be exchanged with a Dodge product. Will get the numbers.

Clutch switch for starting can be exchanged with a 1500/1800 switch - same one different number.

Lots out there just need to do some research.
