Re: single carb
Some guys have used block freeze out plugs and hammered them into the holes. There is a YouTube video of someone doing it.

Re: single carb
Any update on how your single carb conversion worked out. I am looking into it because I just did a full rebuild of my carbs and still have a lag at 2-3k rpm.

Rod,
check in with this guy, he seems to have a good handle on it.

Re: single carb
I blocked off the passages but I made plugs on a lathe. Easily made but you can also take the existing parts and cut off the tube that leads to the rubber tube and plug it with epoxy, or you can try filling it up with brazing (assuming it steel). Don't forget to but new orings and replace these.

Re: single carb
I've seen the Secondary Air System ports blocked with 9/16" freeze plugs with very good results. Specifically, Dorman #555-008 9/16" .250" High steel cup. Can get at almost any car parts store.
