Lowering my 86 Interstate

I have a GL1100 I. I just bought an 86 GL1200 I, I believe.

Anyhow, how about some ideas on lowering the bike. I tried lowering the air pressure to the min of 26 psi. Me and my girl are scraping, I am going back up to 50psi.

My GL1100 has some type of non-air shocks. I think I would like to go this route. Please comment.
