Morning Folks -
General consensus says the best grease to use for the starter is Black Moly EP - Unfortunately not a single auto parts store within a 20 mile radius of me has any of it in stock which is rather odd given its Northeast Georgia but who knows
Is there a better versus worse grease that I can snag to repack these bearings and so forth?
I use Valvoline EP bearing grease with Moly for Ford/Lincoln wheel bearings on/in bearings. I use it for ……. as well, I buy it in pint can. Any auto parts place I see it. Often advertised as black, I find it looks more like dark grey.

No!! Don't use this on your splines, or recommend others do the same. That grease contains only 2.5% moly, which is pretty much as good as using nothing at all on your splines. You need at LEAST 60% moly content, like this M-77 paste:
