Onboard Compressor Fixed itself

Post by jcn59 »

It was like magic, or else I finally figured out how to turn it on. When I bought it two months ago the seller said the compressor didn't work. So I bought a Clymer manual. That told me everything but how to use the compressor. I guess I needed an owners manual. Anyways after a brief ride today I poked & prodded various combinations of the compressor switches with the key on and the motor off, and I heard the compressor start & run. I think my problem was that I didn't believe the compressor worked and therefore any button I pushed reinforced my belief that it was broken. There was probably a shorter way to say all this.

Same here! After owning my 85 limited for a few months I finally got the air hose for filling up the tires off craigslist and read the manual and it worked. Just had to follow the directions in the manual. It is all about the key position. Has to be in park. I guess they dont want the bike to move while the airhose is clamped on the tire valve.

My bike came w/o a F/M. I bought a Clymer instead.

Many moons ago Honda dealers would give you one for the asking. I suspect that program is long gone, and now they only offer free downloads for newer bikes. However, Google is your friend and a quick search got a one year off example, that might be acceptable. I'm sure a more through search would locate the exact match or you could score one on ebay if you watch for a while.

Thanks Rambozo, I should have thought of Google myself, but I didn't. I'm still happy that it seems to work. I squirted a bit more air into the rear shocks & can't hardly wait to try it tomorrow.
