Aspencade Swing Arm Bearing Replacement
Hello all. I'm new to this website and couldn't be more impressed by the volume of information available to Goldwing enthusiasts like me. I'm very excited to explore further. My sons bought me a 1986 Aspencade for my 60th in anticipation of my upcoming retirement. Well, I'm now retired and am looking forward to doing a lot of things I didn't have time to do before. To start with, I've always wanted to do a frame up restore/rebuild of a Goldwing. I've started disassembling the present from my sons to inspect and replace as necessary. I'm at the swing arm now and I noticed that the swing arm bearing hardware is not the same on both sides. On the left side, there is a dust seal, bearing, race and grease holder. On the right side, there is a dust seal, bearing, race and another dust seal of some sort. Actually, this dust seal is like a grease hold and a dust seal combined. It is designed to let the right swing arm bolt extend through the dust seal. That's fine, I guess, but the dust seal, which has a rubber ring the bolt slips through, is damaged. So, I guess replacing it is the right thing to do. My problem is, the only bearing kits available contain grease holders on both sides. Doesn't seem like this will work on the right side. Does anyone have experience with this and can give me advice?

Re: Aspencade Swing Arm Bearing Replacement
Hi mwood, the OEM parts fiche shows the RH side #18 is a dust seal plate (no longer available) and #16, LH side is a grease holder.
16 HOLDER, SWINGARM GREASE 52112-MA1-300 1 $6.11 $4.57
18 PLATE, DUST SEAL (NOT AVAILABLE) 52118-MG9-003
This is off the oem parts fiche at Western Honda in Az. You might try calling them about doing a search among other dealers. BTW, the bearings/races sets are also no longer available. Maybe check Parts n more in Canada. They have a lot of parts that American dealers do not. Also, Cyclemax may have them. I hope this helps.

Re: Aspencade Swing Arm Bearing Replacement
Hi Alan. Thanks for the reply and the website reference. Cyclemax didn't have anything for the swing arm, but they had other items I'll need to look at for future projects. There is a bearing kit available from Bike Bandit, but it contains 2 grease holders and no dust seals. Strange since they say it fits my bike. Any recommendations for my damaged dust seal?

Hi Roadwanderer2. Thanks for the website. I gave them a call to ensure the part was available and they said it isn't. However, they gave me a couple websites to explore, so I'll give those a try. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks again.
