Wondering if 84 Gl1200 electrical system can handle heated riding gear. Anybody know?

I have never used any type of heated clothing , but do know my X father in law used a heated vest. At the time his bike was new, 1984, so you may want to make sure your charging system is in good shape.

I used heated gloves and jacket with my GL1100, and it's fine as long as you aren't sitting idling. When idling, your battery will discharge. When the RPM was up above 3,000 or so, it would charge and run the heated gear with no problem.

I have an 85 Aspencade and ride until the snow falls. 15 degrees is my personal best (or worse lol) for a 32 mile ride to work at 4:30 a.m. I use First Gear heated jacket liner and heated gloves a LOT! Never had a problem. Removed the radio and use the control panel and original knobs for the heat settings, looks factory.
